Biker reaches speeds of 140mph after failing to stop for police
A motorcyclist has been caught by police after reaching speeds of up to 140mph on a major road in Essex.

Police have caught a motorcyclist who allegedly travelled at speeds close to 140mph on a major road in England.
According to reports, the biker was already riding well above the speed limit before attempting to avoid police.
The rider managed to avoid police initially, resulting in speeds close to 140mph being reached before he eventually stopped at Panners Interchange, which is located at the junction on the A120.
The A120 is an A-road running between Puckeridge in Hertfordshire and Harwich in Essex. This stretch of road also bypasses the towns of Bishop's Stortford, Great Dunmow, Braintree, Coggeshall, Colchester and Dovercourt.
Speaking about the incident, Essex Police said:
"Speed limits are there for a reason. It is against the law to exceed them, and driving too fast reduces the time available to react to hazards and increases the danger posed to other road users.
"Our enforcement activity is about protecting the public and encouraging everyone to use our roads responsibly."
Police also say the motorcycle featured a flipped registration plate when it was seized, which was done using the new Section 59 powers.
This allows police in England and Wales to seize motorcycles, and any other vehicles, being used anti-socially without issuing a warning first.

This particular speeding offence was revealed as part of Essex Police detailing the results of its speed enforcement work for the month of September.
A total of 5,223 speeding offences were recorded by officers during the month, including 2,708 in the west of the county.
