Kawasaki trademarks ‘Ninja R2’

Sparking speculation we could see another supercharged model like this

KAWASAKI has trademarked the name ‘Ninja R2’, leading to speculation in some corners of the motorcycles press that another supercharged model is planned.

The European trademark is one of several new Ninja monikers registered by Kawasaki, with several more variations filed in Japan. It’s sparked speculation the firm could even be planning a number of supercharged models to capitalise on the expertise gained developing the Ninja H2 and H2R.

Of course, the names could just as easily be applied to new naturally aspirated models in the Ninja line-up, which currently ranges from a 250 single upward, so let’s not get too excited just yet.

We’ll have the first full review of the 200hp Ninja H2 and 310hp Ninja H2R on Visordown next Tuesday, March 10.
