Model Summary
The 1098R is a very special ‘homologation’ bike, built in limited numbers solely to enable Ducati to go racing in World Superbikes (WSB) and various national championships with their larger 1198cc motor, which is an absolute masterpiece. Developing 186bhp / 99 lb/ft, the ultimate incarnation of the ‘ Testastretta Evoluzione’ features sand cast crankcases, bigger titanium valves coated in chrome nitride (CrN) titanium con rods, super finished low friction rocker arms, magnesium cam covers and slipper clutch. The standard specification is huge and includes monoposto aluminium alloy rear sub frame, gold forged/machined lightweight Marchesini ‘Y’ shaped wheels, 102 dB full Race kit Termignoni exhaust system with dedicated Race ECU and 8 stage adjustable traction control, fully adjustable 43mm dia. Ohlins forks, fully adjustable Ohlins TTX twin tube rear shock, fully adjustable Ohlins steering damper, Brembo Monobloc M4 calipers with 330mm dia. front discs, single sided swingarm finished in satin black, DDA – Ducati Data Analyser, MotoGP derived LCD instruments, stopwatch and lap timer, adjustable levers with Brembo radial master cylinders and remote reservoirs. The bike has full Ducati Corse Carbon Fibre race seat unit, belly pan, tank lower side and infill panels, front and rear huggers.
