Previous Z1000 owners will love it- much improved handling. Charging motor demands attention.
Plastics are less than fantastic. Odd exhaust and dash.

Overall Review

Brillant super etc a fantastic package that takes the bike to a new leval, Before settling on the Z i test rode nearly all the current nakeds and for me this one tops the lot, and i had the cb1000r for two yrs and thought that nothing could better it but this engine, chassis ,running gear mirrors controls and handing are just perfect For me that is!!!

Strengths

Engine! engine! engine! its a power house, and i thoufht the cb1000r was a power house but this just laughs in its face and trys to pull my arms off!, the engine induction roar is music, The running gear suites the engine much more a sports than the cb100r and the gearbox is as slick as my old gsxr I have avon tyres fitted and they seem to suit this bike, I even like the orange dash which i must say is better to see in day light than my last bike, The mirrors are vibration free and i can see more than my elbows, low and med speed control is brill and soon as you are moving the bike feels light

Weaknesses

The paint finish on the front of the engine is soft and chips easy and the bike comes with to much free play which caused a jerky responce but soon sorted once the play and been taken out other than that nothing else is bad

Overall Review

This is my 2nd Z (i even liked the bad one) coming from super/hyper sports bikes this is so much fun to ride, a sports naked is something everyone should try, save your supersports machines for the track, thats the only place you can use them for what they were made for and give a street bike a go, you wont regret it. Currently running Dunlop Sportsmart tyres which work very well and last well too.

Strengths

The engine. Theres torque right through the range, my mates got an Aprillia RSV Factory and doing top gear roll-on's he had to be in 3rd to accelerate away from me while I was in 6th! The look of the thing, it looks like its doing 100mph standing still, and when parked up with my mates with their R1's, S1000's and Gixers its the Zed that people ask about (which annoys my mates no end :-D) Lack of wind protection keeps you from losing your licence :-)

Weaknesses

Comfort isn't its strong point, especially for a pillion, but then thats not what you buy it for and also with a tank range of barely 100miles you get plenty of opportunity to stretch your legs. The suspension begins to show its failings once your getting a real shift on but generally its ok, for a naked. I found softening the front compression and increasing the rebound front and rear helped but would benefit from rebuild/replacement. A steering damper helps with the head shakes but suspension replacement would probably negate the need for this. Get a radiator guard, you'll need one!

Overall Review

After riding a GSX1400 for the last 7 years the Z is like a breath of fresh air. Its so nice to have a bike that i don't have to muscle round corners. It handles beautifully. It has so much power on tap it will try to pull your arms out of their sockets. This Bike puts a smile on my face everytime I ride it. Frightenly quick. In traffic its a doddle to ride. Well balanced and very neutral. Good feed back under braking but i think that has a lot to do with tyre choice. Pilot 3's are just amazing. Its just an awesome package. Thank you Mr Kawasaki, you have made one cracking bike!!

Strengths

Ample power, handling. Build quality. Love the look, Price.

Weaknesses

Cramped pillion seat - not very comfy. Be warned If you've got standard cans don't leave paddock stand bobbins on the awing arm. They could hit the underside of your cans and leave a lovely dent. Worse still it could snap the bobbin off. Paintwork a little soft especially on the swingarm. Easy to scratch with a paddock stand if not careful.

Overall Review

Best bike I have ever ridden. Can mix it with most sports bikes with ease, and is a joy to ride every day of the year. Do you want a bike that makes you smile? Look no further.

Strengths

The smoothness and linearity of the power delivery is intoxicating, the Z1000 wants to wheelie everywhere and the sound of the motor when the revs climb is awe-inspiring! It handles like a dream and defies it's weight well. Brakes pull the front down quickly and have great feel.

Weaknesses

Engine performance is not recommended for beginners as it could be too much to start with. Can lose some weight by changing the stock exhaust and to amplify the lovely roar it makes. Top gear is also a bit 'buzzy' when on motorways and your backside won't thank you for 2 hour plus rides with no breaks.
