Yamaha updates its Off Road Competition range for 2026
Everything is gaining a light update, from the bike many of us started on, the Yamaha PW50, to the top-spec YZ450F

Yamaha has unveiled its 2026 Off Road Competition range, headlined by updates to the YZ450F and YZ125, alongside revised graphics and colour schemes across the full lineup.
The brand has also launched four 70th Anniversary Edition models to mark its seven decades in operation.
2026 Yamaha YZ450F – engine, chassis, and suspension changes

The YZ450F gets a number of mechanical updates for 2026, including a new engine, revised frame, and suspension changes aimed at improving rider control and comfort.
The intake port shape has been changed to increase combustion efficiency in the low-to-mid rev range. Torque characteristics have been revised for improved rider feedback. Yamaha has also worked on reducing noise, with a revised muffler and additional resonators in the intake and airbox.
A new hydraulic clutch has been added for more consistent performance under sustained use, and the clutch lever action has been revised for improved feel. The clutch system itself has also been updated for stability over longer stints.
The aluminium frame has been modified with different downtube thickness and asymmetric engine mounts, aimed at improving chassis balance and front-end stability. The rear suspension has been co-developed with KYB and now features a larger base valve piston and six-port main valve piston to improve damping performance at a range of speeds. A hand-adjustable compression damping adjuster has also been introduced.
Other changes include a new anti-slip seat design, revised plastics and bodywork, and an ECU lock function integrated with Yamaha’s Power Tuner app. The app continues to allow adjustment of engine mapping, traction and launch control, and includes a lap timer.
2026 Yamaha YZ125 – intake and carburation updates

Yamaha has also updated the YZ125, focusing on improving power delivery and rideability. The intake system has been redesigned, and the carburetion has been adjusted with new jetting and ignition timing.
Changes include a new jet needle, revised main, pilot and power jets, and an updated air screw. These are intended to create smoother throttle response and more consistent fuelling across the rev range. The air intake has also been reshaped and enlarged for improved airflow.
The updates are aimed at making the YZ125 easier to set up and smoother to ride, particularly during corner exit.
Special edition models and updated graphics

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Yamaha is releasing special white and red liveried editions of the YZ450F, YZ250F, YZ250 and YZ125. These are inspired by the YZM400F, the company’s first 4-stroke motocross race bike.

Elsewhere in the range, the YZ250 and YZ250F receive updated "Icon Blue" colours and new graphics for 2026. The YZ65 and YZ85, Yamaha’s youth motocross machines, also get colour and graphic updates.
The PW50, Yamaha’s long-running 50cc beginner bike, continues in the range with updated colours and graphics but no mechanical changes.
