Yamaha Tracer 7 Family Gets Heavy Tech Updates
New tech updates are at the forefront of Yamaha’s updated Tracer 7 and top-spec Tracer 7 GT models, as well as a new engine

Yamaha has revealed a long list of updates to its Tracer 7 family which includes a new engine which is found in other, more sporty road models, revised styling and ride-by-wire throttle.
The updates also mean revised prices have been set, with the standard Tracer 7 now available for £8,804 in both the Redline and Midnight Black colourways. On the other hand, the 7 GT comes in at £10,104, with Icon Performance and Tech Black options. The two models will be available from July, 2025.
The seismic updates to the Tracer 7 and higher-spec Tracer 7 GT sees both get cruise control as standard which will please the masses, while the two models will have switchable traction control levels, a choice of two throttle maps and Sport and Street riding modes. A third setting is available to use and is customisable.

The third setting is the softest and has wet weather conditions in mind, although riders are able to choose between three power modes and the above-mentioned traction control which can also be switched off completely.
The new sports tourers get the same 690cc parallel-twin engine that’s found in the new MT-07, and is fully Euro5+ compliant. From there, a larger 18-litre fuel tank has been added for good measure.
Power remains the same as the outgoing model meaning riders get 72.4bhp at 8,750rpm, however, peak torque is claimed to be 50.2Ib ft at 6,500rpm which is an increase of 0.8 per cent.

A revised chassis for both includes a new swingarm that’s been lengthened by 40mm to help both the standard and GT variants feel more stable at speed, and while navigating corners. Yamaha also claims its clutch lever is 22mm lighter than before as a result of its new Assist and Slipper clutch.
Further changes compared to the old models means both the Tracer 7 and 7 GT receive a set of 41mm upside down forks that replace the telescopic set-up from before.
Adjustable rebound is found on both while out back is a monoshock and remote preload adjuster that’s only available on the GT model. Adding to the extras found aboard the GT are a pair of panniers that are mounted via a one-piece aluminium frame.

A new five-inch colour TFT display comes with multiple themes and smartphone connectivity via the free MyRide app. Music is accessible as well as call and message notifications. Full map and turn by turn navigation is available through the free Garmin StreetCross app, which can all be controlled through the new ergonomic switchgear.
