Suzuki looks to be bolstering its middleweight range with two new sport-touring models: the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT.

The news comes from paperwork filed with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which was uncovered by Motorcycle.com’s Dennis Chung. The CARB filing specifically notes that the bikes are for road use, and lists them alongside the existing GSX-8R sports bike, GSX-8S naked, and the more rugged V-Strom 800 range. The document confirms that both new models will use the familiar 776cc parallel twin already found in Suzuki’s aforementioned middleweights.

Power figures remain unchanged from the current engine setup, meaning 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 57.5 lb-ft of torque at 6,800rpm.

The most obvious interpretation is that the GSX-8T will be a faired, road-focused tourer—think GSX-S1000GT but downsized and potentially a bit more wallet-friendly. Suzuki already has the chassis, engine, and electronics to make it happen with minimal fuss.

The “TT” badge, though, raises a few questions. Suzuki isn’t saying, but it could be a higher-spec version of the 8T, following the same formula as the GSX-S1000GT+ and GX+ models. Expect the usual suspects of standard panniers, taller screen, maybe a few tech upgrades or comfort tweaks. At the expected price point the bike will be landing at, we wouldn’t expect the TT version to feature any upper-premium features like semi-active suspension or adaptive cruise control.

Suzuki hasn’t officially unveiled the bikes yet, but given the timing of the CARB filings, a full reveal at EICMA this November seems highly likely.

Stay tuned, we’ll be watching this one closely.
