Swiss Schmitter returns to WorldSBK with Misano wild-card

Dominic Schmitter will make his return to the World Superbike Championship for round seven at Misano as a wild-card aboard a sixth Yamaha entry.

Schmitter competed in a full season of WorldSBK in 2016 with the Grillini Kawasaki team, notching up a trio of points’ scores, and has since gone on to secure title-winning success in his native Switzerland competing in the pan-European Stock Sport 1000 series.

For his outing in Italy, Schmitter will ride a Yamaha R1 prepared by the experienced iXS Powered by YART (Yamaha Austria Racing Team) which has enjoyed great success competing in the FIM Endurance World Championship over time.

He is the third wild-card to confirm his spot in Italy - together with Ducati MotoGP test rider Michele Pirro and Samuele Cavalieri - meaning a season-high 22 bikes will start in Misano.
