R&G has announced an expansion of its sponsorship programme in the British Superbike paddock for the 2023 season.

R&G’s sponsorship expansion will see it remain as a sponsor of the British Superbike Championship, and also become the title sponsor for the British Talent Cup.

R&G is a company specialised in motorcycle crash protection, providing kits which reduce damage when crashing a bike.

Circuit racing is certainly not a bad place to go if you want to see a crashed motorcycle - crashing is simply part of the reality of pushing the limits. R&G first became the official crash protection partner of BSB in 2015, and its latest contract extension with the series will see it remain a sponsor until at least 2025.

There will also be an increased presence at BSB races for R&G from 2023, with an expanded R&G Technical Centre, where competitors go to access “the vital racing accessories required to keep them on track,” an R&G press release says.

That expanded presence will also be down to R&G’s new title sponsorship of the British Talent Cup.

First introduced in 2017 by MotoGP promoters Dorna as a way to boost the possibilities of young British riders towards World Championship racing, the BTC is now fully-embedded in the British Superbike paddock and is also open to international riders.

Until now, Honda, whose NSF250R is the standard bike for the BTC, has been the series’ title sponsor, but R&G will take that over from 2023 (the bikes will remain Hondas).

The 2023 British Talent Cup entry list has also been released, with confirmation that 2022 champion Johnny Garness will return to defend his crown in 2023.

The 2023 British Talent Cup season will get underway on the opening BSB weekend of the year, at Silverstone on 7-9 April.

R&G Managing Director Simon Hughes said of the BSB partnership extension: “We are thrilled to be continually deepening our involvement in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and really look forward to another exciting season, with more announcements to follow!”

About the BTC title sponsorship, Hughes added: “R&G has supported grassroots racing since its very early days, and we maintain that ethos to this day.  Many riders in the British Talent Cup use our products already, so it’s a great pleasure for us to step up to being the headline sponsor of this prestigious series.  We can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store!”
