New ZX-10R beats Cadwell lap record

17-year-old breaks Superstock 1000 lap record on 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R

Impressing in a National club race MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider Danny Buchan broke the lap record at Cadwell Park onboard the new Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Warming up for his attack on the British Superstock 1000 championship 17-year-old Buchan took part in a Bemsee-MRO event, lapping quicker than the lap record in practice and taking the quickest lap by dropping the time to 1:29.946 in the race.

Speaking on the lap record Buchan, who is a graduate of the Team Green youth programme, joked: “I’d be well happy with that when we come back here with British Superbikes! I’ve really enjoyed getting some miles on the big bike over the winter and testing has gone well. It’s nice to get a lap record at this stage of the year but I know come the main event everyone will be upping their game again.”

The head of the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team, Nick Morgan was full of praise for Buchan's lap efforts: “What a lap! When you consider he was 4 seconds faster per lap than the next rider who was on an open class machine and is no slouch at National level, it’s very impressive. We’re not getting carried away but we know Danny will definitely be up there and with Howie Mainwaring we have two cracking riders in the series plus THE bike of the year!”
