54 years 8 monthsJoe Sheldon-Shaw will make his full season debut in the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB) with the NP Motorcycles team following a handful of outings towards the second half of the 2021 season.
The youngster started 14 races in 2021 after first being tapped by the Rapid CDH Kawasaki team to replace the injured Josh Owens over three rounds, before returning to the grid later in the year as the replacement for the retiring Keith Farmer at PR Racing BMW.
For the 2022 season Sheldon-Shaw will transfer over to NP Motorcycles, which expands to a two-rider effort this season having already announced Sam Cox on one of its BMW M 1000 RR machines.
“I’m very excited to be able to get a full season under my belt in the Superbike class with the NP Racing BMW team,” who scored his first point with a 15th place finish at Cadwell Park.
“We will be trying our best and take it step by step to make progress throughout the season. I’m so grateful that Neil and all of my family, friends and sponsors have made this possible and I can’t thank each and every one of them enough.”
Having made its BSB debut in 2021, NP Motorcycles is eager to put the lessons learned from its maiden campaign into challenging for points on a more regular basis.
“I'm excited to be working with Joe for the 2022 season,” Team Owner Neil Pearson commented. “He will be running under the NP Racing banner and I think will prove to be a huge asset to the team. We are looking forward now to testing, so that we are ready for the opening round at Silverstone.”
Sheldon-Shaw becomes the 32nd confirmed rider to a bumper 2022 BSB grid.
