There’s a new name rolling into UK showrooms this summer as QJMotor officially enters the UK market with a chunky 16-model range.

QJ is one of China’s biggest and most ambitious motorcycle manufacturers, and has officially launched in Britain, bringing with it a 16-strong line-up that spans nakeds, sportsbikes, cruisers, and adventure bikes.

Front and centre is the SRK 900, a muscular sport naked aimed squarely at the likes of the Yamaha MT-09 and Kawasaki Z900. Then there’s the SRK 800 RR, a faired middleweight that’s not just for posing outside coffee shops – it’s been raced at World Supersport level and packs a punchy 778cc inline four with 120bhp and 74Nm of torque. Yours from £6,999.

Adventure fans have a couple of tempting options. The SRT 900 SX (£7,699) brings 95bhp from a 904cc parallel twin. It rolls on a 19/17 inch spoked wheel combo, and is topped off by a generous 24-litre tank. More road-focused than off-road hooligan, but with plenty of touring potential. If you fancy something a touch lighter and lower, there’s the SVT 650 X (£6,199) – a 645cc V-twin adventure bike with a 795mm seat, full luggage, spoked wheels and proper crash protection out of the box.

QJ is also bringing some cruisers to the table, with the SRV 600 V (£5,699) being one of the most intriguing. It’s powered by a 561cc V4 engine, which boasts 67bhp. V4s are nothing new in the UK, although to have a V4 unit in a bike under 600cc is a very odd one indeed.

At the other end of the scale, the learner-legal SRK 125 R rounds off the line-up with sharp looks and big-bike styling – a clear pitch to new riders who want to look the part from day one.

Who are QJMotor, then?

If the name doesn’t ring any bells, QJMotor is the flagship brand of the Qianjiang Group, a Chinese giant that’s been building bikes since the mid-‘80s. Over the past decade, it’s become China’s largest bike brand, with operations across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. And crucially, it’s not going it alone, parent company Geely (yes, the one that owns Volvo and has stakes in Lotus and Polestar) has been the biggest shareholder since 2016.

That sort of backing means serious investment in design, quality, and tech. And it shows – QJMotor is aiming to go toe-to-toe with established European and Japanese rivals, not undercut them with bargain-bin bikes.

Why should UK riders care?

Let’s be honest – Chinese motorcycles have had a mixed reputation in the UK. But that was then. This is now, and the QJ range looks, on paper at least, like one of the most serious Chinese offerings we’ve seen to date.

In the UK, QJMotor is being handled by Moto73 Ltd, whose spokesperson said:

“We are proud to introduce QJMotor in the United Kingdom – an exciting new chapter in the British motorcycle market. This is a true premium brand, and we’ll be working hard to give as many riders as possible a chance to demo ride these incredible bikes.”

The full range is expected to land in UK dealers this summer. We’ll be throwing a leg over a few of them soon, and we’ll let you know whether QJMotor lives up to the hype.
