Norton is gearing up for a bold new era as it winds down production of three of its models.

Norton Motorcycles has just dropped a bombshell from its Solihull, UK, headquarters, confirming the end of production for its flagship V4SV, V4CR, and Commando 961 models.

The last of these legendary bikes have rolled off the production line, marking the close of a significant chapter for the British marque. But don’t cue the violins just yet, as Norton’s not riding off into the sunset. Instead, they’re revving up for a full-throttle resurgence, with a fresh product range set to break cover at EICMA 2025.

The Solihull factory is already humming with activity, churning out the next generation of Norton machines. These new models promise an all-new design language, a bold leap into uncharted market segments, and expansion into new sales regions. It’s a move backed by serious investment and the heavyweight expertise of TVS, which snapped up Norton in April 2020. TVS, one of the world’s largest two-wheel vehicle manufacturers, is clearly putting its muscle behind Norton’s ambition to reclaim its spot at the top. And for it to do that, some of the older models (most of which were lingering from the Garner era of Norton’s recent history) will have to make way.

The Commando 961, a bike that’s been the heartbeat of Norton’s modern lineup, has already sold out its final production run to dealers. If you’re hoping to snag one, you’d better move fast - Norton is closing the waiting list for final deliveries soon. For those lucky enough to get their hands on one, dealers are offering finance packages to welcome new riders into the Norton fold. And for the die-hard collectors? A select few “last-of-the-line” units are being crafted as proper keepsakes.

Speaking about the news, Richard Arnold, Norton’s Executive Director, said:

“The Norton V4SV, V4CR, and Commando 961 are revered the world over as the latest in a long line of iconic Norton motorcycles. As one chapter ends, another begins, and the waiting is now almost over to reveal our exciting future. Norton’s rich and storied history has always been built on a forward-thinking mindset, and our resurgence reflects a bold vision for these legendary British motorcycles.”

With EICMA 2025 just around the corner, the buzz around Norton’s next move is beginning to build. We’ve already caught a glimpse of one of the models set to fill the hole left by the V4SV, with TVS CEO, Sudarshan Venu, getting a go on a new V4 sports bike - see image above. That’s likely not going to be the only new metal we get to see at EICMA. Whether or not we get a proper look at the new models before then remains to be seen.
