Kawasaki’s supernaked range now includes a new Z650 S model for 2026, which is set to arrive in UK dealerships from January, with a price of £7,199.

The Z650 S gets a new muscular look, but one where comfort has been prioritised by the Japanese manufacturer. The model’s new ergonomic features include a more forward-leaning riding position thanks to repositioned footpegs, a change that’s paired with a more cushioned front seat.

The new front seat is approximately 15mm higher than the previous Z650, which is also married to an overall wider rear seat design by 20mm. The pillion seat benefits from an extra 10mm of cushion, too. However, the biggest change when it comes to the ergonomics is the updated fat-type handlebar, which is now 30mm wider than before.

The new Z650 S also receives a new, aggressive front cowl which houses a three-way LED lighting system, matched with LED indicators and taillight.

Tech-wise, the Z650 S benefits from a new 4.3-inch TFT dash which allows riders to sync up to Kawasaki’s Rideology smartphone app. The new display comprises two tachometer options, while also changing from light and dark modes automatically based on the ambient light. If you don’t want that to happen, you can manually set it to light or dark.

Mechanically, the Z650 S retains much of the same DNA as before, with Kawasaki saying its engine has been maximised for low-to-mid range torque. The new Z650 S features the brand’s 649cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin unit that’s housed by the current Z650 and Versys 650 adventure model.

The bike makes use of a slipper clutch and tweaked radiator fan cover, while a quickshifter can be added as an accessory.

Braking is handled by dual 300mm front discs and a 220mm disc at the rear, while the model’s new ABS unit is supplied by Continental.
