Royal Enfield Meteor leak

THE next new motorcycle from Royal Enfield has been seen in the most complete and clear pictures of the new model.

Called the Meteor, the new bike has been spotted on the being loaded into the Royal Enfield website in what looks like the accessory configurator on Royal Enfield’s own website.

Whether the leak is an officially sanctioned one – sometimes used by manufacturers to help create a buzz – remains unclear. What is clear is that the person taking the photos had access to the Royal Enfield website while the pictures of the new motorcycle were being loaded in.

We’ve already seen the Meteor a couple of times, in both fully disguised and undisguised forms, although this looks to be the most complete image of what the new bike will look like.

The Meteor is an air-cooled single-cylinder engine, reported to be a 648cc, air-cooled single, producing a healthy 45bhp. The new frame features a twin-shock design and has a distinctly low-slung silhouette when compared to the rest of the R+E range. It’s not as pronounced as bikes like the Triumph Bobber, although it is heading that way. It features two-channel ABS, a six-speed gearbox, and tubeless tyres.

No launch date for the bike is set, but as the bike is seen on the above Royal Enfield website – or at least a sand-box of the site – it’s clearly nearing the final stages of being launched. We’d expect to have an update on this model in the coming weeks or months.
