Triumph is reported to be bringing the Thruxton 400 to life this summer

Reports from India are pointing to the new Triumph Thruxton 400 arriving in August.

The new Triumph Thruxton 400 is reported to be getting a global reveal in August this year, as new spyshots show the bike undergoing on-road testing.

The bike will follow the hugely successful Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, which have proved to be massive sellers for Triumph, topping best seller lists in the UK, Europe and beyond.

It’s thought that the new bike will become the head of the 400 family, with a slightly higher price (and possibly spec) than either the Speed 400 or Scrambler 400 X. What the new bike probably won’t have is any changes to the engine specification or performance, as with around 40bhp it would be close to the A2 limit which Triumph wouldn’t want to exceed.

Indeed, images of a Thruxton 400 undergoing testing have leaked, and the suspension and brakes look to be the same as those found on the Speed 400. There could, of course, be changes to the settings used, although we wouldn’t expect it to be far from the sweet handling found on the little Speed.

We’ve also done some digging on the test bike shown in the images in the Instagram post you can see above, and if that registration plate does indeed read ‘BX72FMF’, it is relating to a Triumph that is black in colour and 400cc in capacity. We have also found out that the bike was first registered in 2022, meaning the baby Thruxton could have been in development for much longer than first thought.
