2013 MV Agusta F4 range

Range-topping F4 1000 RR promises a genuine 200.8 bhp

IT'S all good at the top of MV Agusta's range. For 2013, their litre sportsbike comes in three models - the 'basic' F4, the F4 R and the F4 RR.

Designwise, the new bikes are evolutionary, with significant changes being the redesigned silencer, new lightweight wheels and tweaked bodywork around the nose and tail.

The RR's 998cc short-stroke engine is claimed to make 200.8 bhp (up a couple of horses on the current model), with a higher 14,000 rpm redline thanks to a rebalanced crankshaft,  titanium connecting rods, and half the number of valve springs as the 2012 model.

The RR is chock full of electronic good stuff, including MV Agusta's Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System's (MVICS) traction control and customisable engine mapping, ride-by-wire throttle and electronically-assisted shift. There's also Ohlins suspension with electronic control, electronic or manually adjustable steering damper, and Brembo Monobloc M50 brakes with 320mm front discs to rein in all your enthusiasm.

The F4 and R are no slouches either, making 195 bhp. The F4 has Marzocchi forks and Sachs shocks, and Brembo M4 callipers. 2013 colours are White/Red/Silver (F4 and R) and Pearl White/Black and Red/White (RR), and UK prices are £13,499 (F4), £14,499 (R) and £18,499 (RR).
