MV Agusta is moving its design studio closer to the manufacturing base in Varese, leaving behind a site full of the company's rich history.

The Centro Ricerche Castiglioni has been home to many of the Italian brand's premium motorcycles, however, the studio will now be closed as part of the move. All design and development work will now take place directly at the company’s headquarters in Varese.

Some of the famous motorcycles designed at the Centro Ricerche Castiglioni site include the F4, Brutale and Superveloce models.

The latest move from MV Agusta comes off the back of it cutting ties with KTM due to the financial turmoil the latter finds itself in.

KTM AG bought a 50.1 per cent share in MV Agusta last spring, but the Italian brand is now back under full ownership of the Sardarov family, which previously sold the share to KTM.

At the time of that announcement, MV Agusta said: "Over the past 18 months, MV Agusta has strengthened its financial stability under a fully revitalised management team. In 2024, the company sold 4,000 motorcycles, achieving an annual growth rate of 116 per cent compared to 2023, with last year’s total sales already matched by July. 2024 also marked MV Agusta’s best year ever in parts sales, with a 99 per cent availability rate covering models produced up to seven years ago."

The relocation of the brand's design studio will not change operations at the production site, nor will it result in job cuts, which had been rumoured.

"MV Agusta’s operations remain fully independent, with Varese proudly continuing to serve as the central hub for all key activities, including product development, production, sales, marketing, and after-sales services, “ the statement read.

“The development of next generation of motorcycles is progressing as planned, paving the way for a renewed, innovative, exclusive range and as always focused on celebrating its famous claim ‘Motorcycle Art’."
