Motorcyclist caught speeding at 110mph in North Somerset has been named
A motorcyclist has been temporarily banned from driving and fined after being caught speeding at 110mph in a 50mph zone.

Zephan Thompson has been named as the rider guilty of riding at 110mph in a 50mph zone in North Somerset, resulting in a driving ban of 70 days and a fine of £450.
The 26-year-old was riding a Yamaha, according to a report from Somerset Live, which was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Avon and Somerset Police. The statement said:
“Thompson was riding a Yamaha MT on Chapel Lane, Chew Stoke, when he was stopped by a traffic officer after they observed him travelling at around 110mph before performing an overtake at high speed on Monday, March 30.”

Thompson’s reckless behaviour meant he was caught speeding by more than double the speed limit along the B-road.
Since then, Thompson, of Rowan Close, Weston-super-Mare, has appeared in court where he pleaded guilty on one charge exceeding a 50mph speed limit at Bath Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 23.
Alongside the temporary driving ban, he was issued with an order to pay a victim surcharge of £180 and court costs totalling £130.
With excess speed and careless driving being two main factors that cause incidents, including fatal collisions, it’s lucky that this particular example of speeding did not result in any type of accident.
PC Edward Walsh, who is a roads policing officer that was directly involved in the case, said:
“Thompson’s actions in this case were nothing short of reckless and dangerous, putting his life and the lives of innocent road users at risk.
“He was covering almost 50m every second at the speed he was travelling at in a 50mph zone, which would have given him no time to react to any potential hazard, which could have had devastating consequences.”
