Michael Dunlop has been awarded MBE status thanks to his service in motorcycling following another successful Isle of Man TT event, where he claimed four wins.

Dunlop was awarded his MBE status as part of the King’s Birthday Honours list, and it means the most successful rider ever at the TT has now joined his uncle Joey Dunlop in receiving the award, with the latter gaining MBE status in 1986.

Dunlop, who already secured three wins at this year’s North West 200, added a further four wins at the TT, including a victory aboard the Ducati Panigale V2, the Italian company’s first win since 1995 at the legendary road race.

Dunlop’s tally of wins at the TT has now risen to 33, putting him ten clear of his uncle, Joey. Dunlop’s impressive 2025 TT also saw him continue his dominance in the Supertwin class as he won both races, as well as setting a new all-time lap record as he averaged a speed of 123.056mph on the final lap of race two.

Speaking in a post on social media, Dunlop called it a “privilege” to be granted the award, saying: “What an honour it is to be named in the King’s Birthday Honours list and to receive an MBE.

“I’ve spent years pushing through every high and low life could throw at me. No matter the challenge, I’ve always given everything 100 per cent on and off the track. To now be recognised in this way is a privilege beyond words.”

Dunlop added: “From the beginning, I’ve driven myself to become the best rider I can be, with the goal of becoming the greatest at the TT. At the same time, I’ve always carried the pride of keeping the Dunlop name at the top of the sport.

"This journey hasn’t been easy, but the results speak for themselves. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s played a part in it: my team, my sponsors, my family, my friends, and the fans who’ve stood by me through it all. Thank you, MD.”

Dunlop’s win with Ducati at the 2025 Isle of Man TT means he has now won races with seven different brands at the road course.
