KTM appears to be dropping the X-Bow project as part of its restructuring

KTM says its focus is on rebuilding the brand and selling motorcycles, which likely spells the end of production for the X-Bow car.

Production of the X-Bow car is likely all-but-over as KTM admits it is not helping the brand sell motorcycles.

KTM has never claimed to be a car manufacturer, and doesn’t make a wide range of models.

The X-Bow seemed like it was a project that could have a lot of potential, but with KTM looking to rebuild itself, production of the four-wheeler appears to be over, at least for the time being.

KTM has finally resumed its bike production following a financial freeze, and that’s where its focus lies going forward. The last few months have been a torrid time for the Austrian brand, which restarted production on July 28.

But to make sure it enjoys a safer, and more productive future, KTM is scrapping some projects, which also includes its bicycle business.

Speaking in an interview with CycleWorld, KTM’s new CEO Gottfried Neumeister, said: “We are far in the process of selling the X-Bow car. We sold 36 last year. Again, a super project and we’ve proven what we are capable of and have some of the best engineers in the world. But the project does not help us to sell motorcycles.

“The most immediate steps to the restructuring is to get rid of the bicycle business. That will be done by the end of the year.”

While it was a shame that the X-Bow didn’t take off quite like KTM would have hoped for, the company’s restructuring efforts, which is focusing heavily on the motorcycle division, will be pleasing for many.
