Kawasaki has recalled some 2024 and 2025 ZX-6R models as a result of over-tightened crankshaft bolts, which is an issue not just related to models in the UK.

The recall notice from Kawasaki is subject to models across the UK and Europe, and it’s believed the issue has also been found in the US.

During production some of the crankshaft bolts were over-tightened which may result in damage to the crankshaft main bearing.

The damage could be serious because if the metal crankshaft was to be damaged due to improper oil clearance, then the engine could break.

It’s unclear how many of the 2024 and 2025 ZX-6R models have been affected by the issue, although reports in America claim 7809 2024 year models were affected, while that number rises to 9983 for the company’s 2025 bikes.

Dealers have been alerted of the issues, and affected customers are currently being notified of the recall.

Over in the US Kawasaki has labelled the ongoing issue as a ‘no ride’ recall, however, that’s not the case in both the UK or across affected countries in Europe, as of this writing.

The repairs are expected to be quick, with new bikes that are still occupying space in dealerships only requiring the external crankcase fastening bolts to be re-tightened.
