Harley-Davidson Sprint planned for 2027 launch
Hot on the heels of the news that the Sportster 883 is making a comeback in 2027, a new Sprint model will also be joining the family.

Harley-Davidson is wasting no time in setting out its stall for 2027, with the news that not one, but two new entry-level models will be getting the road next year.

The first new bike model is probably the most exciting, as reviving the air-cooled Sportster, which you can read about here, will be a very big deal for Harley-Davidson. The second bike, though, could actually be the most important, as it could help Harley-Davidson to achieve something that it has struggled with in recent years.

The bike in question is simply called the ‘Sprint’, and aside from a silhouette of the bike’s side profile, we know little else about the upcoming model. Having studied the picture for some time, though, it seems clear to all that it’s going to be utilising Harley’s underused (in the USA and Europe, anyway) X440 platform. That model is sold in certain regions of Asia, with the bikes themselves manufactured by the automotive giant Hero at its plant in Rajasthan, India. The X440 is also closely related to a model that Hero sells under its own banner, the Hunk 440, which Visordown tested towards the end of last year.
While official specs and details for the Harley-branded bike remain tightly under wraps, we do know quite a bit about the Hunk 440, meaning we can have a fairly good stab at the specs.

First up, it’s not likely to be a V-twin, with the Hunk 440 and X440, both relying on a simple air-cooled single-cylinder engine for their power. Both make around 27 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 26.5 lb ft at 4,000 rpm. Weight for both hovers around the 190 kg mark, and in the UK, the Hunk 440 comes in at the bargain price of £3,499.
That final point is probably the most important one to mention. Harley has, for a long time, struggled to get new riders on seats. With an ageing demographic and most of Harley’s bikes tipping into the high teens and £20,000 range, the American brand needs an entry point, and this might just be it. With this bike, and the Sportster 883, which we also reported on today, Harley-Davidson might be just about to get some of the tools it needs to turn the tide of sliding sales.
