Guenther Steiner is reportedly in talks to complete massive Tech3 MotoGP takeover
Former Haas F1 team principal, Guenther Steiner, is reportedly looking to buy the Tech3 KTM MotoGP team.

After a brief absence from F1, Guenther Steiner could be set to swap four wheels for two, as reports claim he is close to finalising the purchase of the Tech3 KTM MotoGP outfit.
Now, before we go any further, it must be said that these reports have not yet been confirmed. However, there are strong suggestions from credible outlets claiming Steiner will complete the takeover.
The same reports also claim that US company Apex is behind Steiner’s efforts, which manages investments for professional athletes, including McLaren F1 driver, Lando Norris.
Where there’s smoke, there is certainly fire, and that’s because Steiner’s name has come up before in rumours linking him with the Tech3 team.
In fact, earlier this season Herve Ponchoral, who is the current owner of the Tech3 KTM team, mentioned Steiner as one of the names the team had spoken to. However, what that role could be was still unclear at the time.
According to Motorsport.com, Steiner is set to complete the takeover of the Tech3 outfit. The report goes on to say that the staff would remain largely the same, as well as its current riders Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini.
Whether or not Steiner does indeed take over the Tech3 team, having a personality like his in MotoGP would certainly be a success for the sport’s new owners Liberty Media.
Steiner became adored by many for his role on the hit Netflix show, Drive to Survive, where his brutal honesty and joking personality brought humour to the show.
Steiner was at the helm of Haas for 10 years as the team principal, before being replaced by Ayao Komatsu.
Tech3 has had various amounts of MotoGP success since joining the series in 2001, but like the factory Red Bull KTM team, the last couple of seasons have proved difficult at times.

That’s not been helped by the financial troubles KTM found itself in over the winter, yet KTM wants to remain in MotoGP for the foreseeable future.
