Watch: Australian biker gang movie ‘1%’ trailer

AUSTRALIA has probably seen its share of problems linked to outlaw biker gangs, or ‘bikie gangs’ as they call them over there.

A feud between rival gangs was linked to 13 shootings in two weeks in Sydney in 2008 and last year Queensland banned wearing biker club colours in an organised crime clampdown.

Now the violent underworld of the outlaw bikie gang has been dramatised in a new Australian film – and this is the trailer.

Called ‘1%’, it’s set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from tomorrow until September 17.

A synopsis on the festival’s website says it’s about a gang member released from prison to find his position threatened by a younger man.

It says: 'Two men square off over control of a motorcycle gang in this violent drama about fraternity, loyalty and betrayal from first-time director Stephen McCallum…

‘Well-paced, intense, and often violently confrontational, 1% is a powerful new depiction of an old story. A fading lion, out of step with the times, rages against a new regime unwilling to cede to a new generation — right up until the final, chilling shot.’

The film’s set to premiere in the UK at London Film Festival on October 5, with a general release date yet to be announced.
