Dave Day is a charity fundraising event, culminating in a motorcycle ride from London to Barrow, where the late Dave Myers will be honoured and celebrated.

The former Hairy Bikers TV star died at the age of 66 after a battle against cancer in February 2024.

More than 46,000 riders took part in last year’s ‘Dave Day’ event, and another big turnout is expected in June.

Hairy Bikers had been aired on the BBC since 2011, after Myers and his good friend Si King signed an agreement with BBC Worldwide, although Myers and King had been together under the Hairy Bikers name since 2004.

As part of the 2025 ‘Dave Day’ rideout, money will again be raised for charity through registration contributions, concert tickets, a legends vs Bikers football match and more. All riders who wish to take part must register their vehicle before attending.

A statement from the Dave Day website said: “The aim of Dave Day is to spread hope and happiness to all regardless of who you are or where you’re from, whilst honouring and remembering Dave and all other lost loved ones. We want to replace ‘I'm having a great day with “I’m having a Dave Day!” Whilst raising as much as we can for great causes.

“This year’s event will again take place on June 21, and see the UK motorcycle community pull together and ride to Dave’s hometown of Barrow in Furness, which in 2024 saw over 46,000 riders take part.

“This year, the Dave Day team, along with Barrow council, Barrow BID and North West Community Stars Football Club are working hard to create a fantastic weekend of events and celebration for us all to enjoy whilst raising as much as possible for this year’s charity causes.

“Money will be raised through registration contributions, concert tickets, a Legends V Bikers football match, online donations and merchandise which will all be pooled and all profits split 50/50 between the chosen charities.

“The charities that Dave Day are supporting in 2025 are NSPCC Childline and CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria a north west-based charity providing cancer care and support over 850 square miles in the key towns of Lancaster, Barrow, Kendal and Morecambe.”
