Fans Take Part in Ride Out with Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness
John McGuinness led a ride out of the original St John’s course with fans on Saturday
Fans of the Isle of Man TT and road racing legend John McGuinness MBE were given the ultimate experience last Saturday by joining the 23-time TT winner for a special ride out around the original 15.85-mile St John’s road course.
Riders who took part in the one-off event, which was organised by Isle of Man Motorcycles, initially met up around 2pm at the Van Mossel MotorMall in Douglas. From there, the ride then started an hour as the group headed for St John’s.
The lap included a loop between Ballacraine, Kirk Michael, Peel and St John’s, which was the route used for the first four years of racing at the TT. In 1911, the course was expanded as it became the mountain course.
After the ride, participants were allowed to head back to Isle of Man Motorcycles for photos with the Honda Racing rider.
A spokesperson from the dealer told Isle of Man TT Today: “What a great turnout! Over 200 bikes joined in, not to mention all the bikes that joined on [during the lap]. Thank you to everyone for joining in, and we hope you enjoyed the ride.
‘“It’s great bringing the biking community together with the legend himself and riding the original TT course - it all went smoothly! Big thank you to Honda Motorcycles and Isle of Man Police for assisting us.”
McGuinness is one of several big names returning for the 2025 Isle of Man TT races, as he gets set to compete aboard a CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. McGuinness will set off at the head of the field in a total of six races, which include the Superbike, Superstock and Supersport categories.
The 2025 Isle of Man TT will see McGuinness make his 112th start at the famous road course, which runs from 26 May to 7 June.
