CARB filings reveal upcoming new Ducati model, collaboration with luxury car maker
Ducati looks set to launch a new model which will be the result of a collaboration with a luxury car maker.
CARB (California Air Resources Board) filings in the US have shed light on a potential new Ducati model, which appears to be the result of a collaboration with luxury car maker Bentley.
The filings specifically note two models, A ‘Ducati Diavel For Bentley’ and a ‘Ducati Diavel For Bentley Mulliner’. Both new machines appear in the same filing as the standard Diavel and a Diavel S.
Mulliner is Bentley’s in-house bespoke division, responsible for the company’s most heavily personalised and exclusive cars. It has been around in various forms for more than 100 years, and today sits at the top of Bentley’s range and is responsible for creating one-off and limited-run models with higher levels of customisation and detailing than the standard cars.
More details about the bikes, and what sets them apart from the standard models, aren’t known, as CARB filings only detail the machine’s environmental compliance, emissions, and climate risks.
Should the new bikes be announced later this year, they would not be the first bikes to come via a collaboration with a car maker.
In 2013, Ducati teamed up with the high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes, with the resulting run of Diavel Carbon AMG models totalling 743 limited edition units.
More recently Ducati created a model inspired by its sister company, Lamborghini, with the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini numbering just over 600 units worldwide.
That bike also served as the last time Ducati created a limited edition version of its V-twin-powered Diavel, which was superseded by the V4 platform in late 2022.
Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first time Bentley and Ducati have joined forces in this manner. In 2023, the pair revealed a Diavel V4 special edition called Diavel for Bentley at Art Basel week in Miami Beach.
That special edition was inspired by Bentley's sports touring Batur, which itself was based on the Continental GT.
Precisely when the new model will be officially revealed is not known, although with Ducati’s traditional World Premiere events set to begin soon, culminating just before EICMA, we wouldn’t bet against seeing it officially in the next couple of months.
