New Stuff: Bridgestone Battlax Racing R10s

Sticky, super sticky...

...stickier than a Weatherspoons floor on a Friday night. Well that’s not exactly an official Bridgestone technical term but no matter which way you look at it the brand new Battlax Racing R10 tyre is a ‘Road legal’ Supersport/Superstock race tyre. It’s used as the control tyre for the Aprillia RRV450 race series.

The press info states that the new R10s have a tread pattern designed to “give improved braking stability” and “increased traction when driving hard out of corners”, for the simple minded ones of us that means there’s feck all tread and that can only be a good thing, well, in the dry anyway.

And dry is exactly what I will be hoping for next Tuesday when I take my Triumph Speed Triple long termer on track at the Snetterton 300, in what will be my last outing on the Trumpet. Together we’ve covered more than 13,000 road miles over the past 7 months and I cant think of a more suitable way to bid farewell to the lovely Triple than to stretch its legs on the 2.99 miles of fast and flowing corners that make up the new 300 circuit.

A full report and a video will follow next week so I'll update you on the Battlax Racing R10s then.
