Overall Review

After September, 2013, I can give a more thorough review after a 2-thousand mile trip, one way, to Canada. I should have around 4,000 on the clock then. So far, so good. Runs great around town. The maintenance is scheduled every 4,000 miles, so the dealer tells you this bike doesn't need any attention. Regular gas (over 86 octane), and regular oil, like a brand name 10w-30; it doesn't even want expensive synthetic as my old bike did. Turn the key and get gone! Oh, listen to the radio, plug in the iPhone & iPod; it's wired for all that, out of the box. I'll have to get the headset, I think, to hear music at highway speeds. Oops, almost forgot the most unforgivable omission, by Honda. The U.S. version does not come with ABS, nor CRUISE CONTROL! Are you crazy, Honda! Don't you think I'm riding anywhere? Just down to the Post Office and back, then? Idiotic. I think Canada & another country get cruise & ABS.

Strengths

It's like the post 2001 Goldwing GL1800, but smaller. Same 1832cc engine. 118 hp, 125 ft/lbs torque. The bike is lighter and looks cool with the top case removed, and with the shorty windscreen. The black is great; it is gloss black with some parts a flat, matte black color. Together, it is a great-looking package. I like the seat a lot! I cannot actually give it a full review, because I just took delivery on 6/22/2013. On Labor day weekend, August 30th to September 3rd, I am riding from Mexico to Canada, the Three Flags Classic tour. I can update with a 4,000 mile opinion in September

Weaknesses

Most everyone who is a Goldwing rider loves the 1800 engine. It really does the job. The F6B is a modern, new-looking machine, and I think Honda could go the extra one step, and send it out with Vance and Hines Monster slip ons aftermarket pipes (OR SOMETHING)to give the old horse a new bad-ass sound to go with the look. The slip-ons are not obnoxious/loud, just sound a bit more like a Porsche automobile, in my humble opinion. So, F6B is brand new! Still sounds like a Goldwing, though. No ABS or cruise control on U.S.'s "deluxe" model. I consider that a serious mistake!

Overall Review

Bikes loose money just like cars do, even the "Limited Edition" Harleys. The F6B compairs to the top of the line Harleys & BMWs but is so under valued right now I couldn't pass it up - and I am glad I didn't! The longer I have it & the more miles I ride it, the more I love it. I chose a Madstad windshield, Bluetooth modual (for my iPhone & music) and a cruise control. It comes standard with smartphone/usb aux. audio line in to a great premium sound system. My short sport rides are fun but I am always looking forward to the next long ride with my buddies (with or without the girls). Bonus Points- this is hands down the most comfortable back seat on 2 wheels. If my Girl is going I Simply raise the passenger pad or snap on a tour box that has a taller backrest and you'll never get complaints. So the bottom line. For around $10,000 usd you can get a 3000 mile bike itch factory warranty that will out run any Harley or BMW and do it with more comfort while your laying up the twisty roads dialing up he tork as needed to keep your smile big enough to collect even more bug juice. And if you keep it shiney, after a Bunch of miles & smiles you should be able to get most of your money back because as a (normal) rule Goldwings take an initial dip in value then remain strong value wise. So put 25,000 on a 11,000 F6B then post it for sale at 10,000. The new ones will be $25,000 and there's not a lot of used F6Bs available to be had. There are a zillion used Harley to be had That need work.

Strengths

Some say it's expensive but in reality, the F6B is routinely compared to/against Bikes like the Harley Road Glide cvo @ 10-15 thousand more. They justify the comparison because it has about the same power, performance, weight and comfort as Harleys top of the line Flagship CVO costing $38,000.00. It the real world, You can find one of these for way less than 20k! Sometimes you can get last years for around 15,000 brand new. Knowing that it's not expensive, it's a steal! Used low mileage F6Bs can be found for 10-13k. That's a true hidden treasure, add 50,000 care free mi.s & get your $ back!

Weaknesses

Like any highly desired adventure machine you will have to ad some options to fit you like a glove & maximize your enjoyment. That said the basics are well covered with a quick & torkey smooth fuel injected flat 6 that runs on regular gas. Reliability for hundreds of thousands of miles. Comfort is well, in the top 3 for any motorcycle offered today. It needs to be dialed in for your personal riding style. I.E: If you want a windshield, you have lots to choose from! Ad some custom paint - it's ok!
