Massively and naturally planted, stable at all speeds and excellent brakes.
Harsh and uncompromising for the road and the inexperienced definitely need not apply!
It has an identity and rabid character all of its own. It’s raw, aggressive, has an awesome slipper clutch and faultless handling

Overall Review

This bike will literally rip your face off and piss on the exposed flesh - it really is that good

Strengths

If you like your bikes with an engine this is the machine for you

Weaknesses

It loves to drop into corners but needs constant pressure on the inside bar to stay there

Overall Review

This is by far the best bike I have owned to date and is much better than the GSXR1000 K4 that I had previkously. Build quality is very good, handling is fantastic and bettered my top speed down the back straight at Snetterton. It is choppy and nervous down bumpy roads and does have a power band which is nice

Strengths

Engine, power band, alive, handling, brakes, induction noise

Weaknesses

Tendency to wheelie too easily

Overall Review

A truely supendous bike, as I say above I bought one new in 2005, rode it to death, and have now bought another - a zero miles 2005 model left unsold in Canada (and imported here). Massive power, perhaps not as much midrange as a GSXR (K2 - which I had before), but the top end rush is astounding. Very well planted at speed, but does need a damper at anything above 150mph - I found this out on a track officer. Turns quickly, sharply and with little effort, and I never found the ground clearance limits - nor the limit of traction (although you can spin the rear up at small lean angles on request - which is MUCH easier than it looks - making you look like a God when in fact you're a knob with a big grin). Wheelies as if it was a factory setting - Put engine in, put wheels on, fit fairing, set bike to "wheely" - finished. Now for the bad points. Mine ate it's chain at 9,333 miles (imprinted on my brain - and in fact the links are inprinted on my left calf muscle). Caused £3500 worth of damage, just outside the warranty period, and the worse thing is you have to make a claim on your own insurance - which makes next years premium a bit steep. Kawasaki UK claimed it wasn't a manufacturing fault, who can tell? and at 11,340 miles it needed a new gearbox - the whole thing - so I got rid. It has to be said that this was probably my fault, for 99% of upward gear shifts I didn't use the clutch, and I am a ham fisted wheely merchant. But I bought another, so I can't be that put off them ... I agree with the comment from Oaky "This bike will literally rip your face off and piss on the exposed flesh" - lol

Strengths

Supremely capable, insanely fast but also re-assuringly composed, roomy enough for a 5'10" man of the larger frame, looks as mean as it performs, not a shellsuit paint scheme

Weaknesses

A total and utter liability - make sure you have health insurance and a good set of police/camera eyes. Dubious build quality - see "Overall"

Overall Review

I test rode a ZX10R in 2005 but ended up buying a GSXR750K5 instead. That was supposed to bridge the gap between 600cc and 1000cc bikes. Hahaha. I sold the gixxer and went back and bought the 2005 ZX10R! Such performance, handling, looks. Touring capability is good, decent tank range, day-long comfort. Then when you get to places such as the Nurburgring it transforms itself into a missile.

Strengths

That engine. The original road reports were right, this thing is awesome. All day comfort. Looks better than anything else Kawasaki have done recently.

Weaknesses

Brakes need some work to get good responsiveness from them. Braided hoses as a minimum. Nothing else really.

Did 40 000km on it, then sold it, I want another 2005 model.. looking for low mileage 2nd hand item. I bought a Yamaha R1 2006 to replace it but sold that after realizing its really weak low and mid range and needs a lot of mods to get it to wheelie easy.. like PCIII, small front sprocket, velocity stacks, Akra 'Y' pipe to omit cat etc..ect...R1 also uncomfortable too comitted where the ZX10R is just right for me, can tour and commute all good fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYZHmMuZQxk I will be getting another asap!!!!

Strengths

Massive Power, excellent handling, good build quality, ergonomically perfect for me 1,8m tall, light weight, mad bad sound with Akra shorty slip on....wheelie!!!!!

Weaknesses

Insufficient capacity on front brake master cylinder, fit Brembo or ZX636 master cylinder, or grind the end of the piston to give more swept volume, also fit braided hose, the brakes pull all the way to the bar even before they heat up, but you can live with it.. bodywork cracks around tailpiece from pillions, rear light fractures at brackets, Pratley steel it.

Overall Review

Had this bike from new and of all my bikes it's the one I turn to first for a ride. My bike is heavily modified to my liking starting with the brakes, 20x18 Brembo master + Braking rotors/Lines, Full Ohlins Damper, forks /rear shock, PC USB3, Robbimoto clipons and rear sets, RP shift, 520 conversion, full Akra Ti Race system, race ECU, Full engine rebuild head work balance blueprint crank mods cam work comp raised many other race engine builder tricks that I don't know of, result is around the 200hp rear wheel and a hoot to ride. Stock the 10R is a quick bike, with these mods it is insane the drive from 9k to the 14k redline is truly mind bending and an effort to actually hang on but it is also the easiest bike to ride in traffic. Handling is vastly superior to stock but still has the same appeal and characteristics and excitement, I will keep this bike regardless of what else I buy in the future and is still the favourite amongst my current bikes. I have ridden all the later models of the 10R and while great in their own right just lack something the 04/05 model had in spades!

Strengths

In your face attitude, ballistic engine, excellent comfort for long rides, standout looks ( even today ), great starting point to custom build a Superbike!

Weaknesses

Poor brake performance, should have come fitted with steering damper, not a bike for the in experienced or fool hardy, minor issues with certain parts.
