CALL it withdrawal symptoms but, ever since I got back from my first trip to the TT the other week – I can’t stop watching on-board videos. It’s starting to become a bit of an addiction. But today I think I’ve found one of the best yet.
Enter ex GP125 and Moto3 racer, Danny Webb. Riding his Team Classic Suzuki prepared, and Carl Cox Motorsport backed Suzuki RG500 race machine. Filmed at last years Classic TT, the video shows his journey around the Snaefell Mountain Course.
What’s as impressive as the skill and bravery that Webb clearly possesses, is the fact that his lap on the RG500 is clocked at about 19:39sec, which means his average speed around the course was about 120mph. so that’s an average speed of 120mph, around the most arduous and unforgiving road-race course on the planet, dodging road camber, bollards, sections of wet road and bird strikes – on a 40-year-old two-stroke bike.
Absolutely mind-blowing!
