Free road safety roadshow tours Scotland in bid to stem rising biker deaths
From Ayr to Inverness, a February roadshow aims to put real-world safety advice in front of more than 1,000 Scottish motorcyclists, backed by police, emergency services and rider organisations.

If you ride in Scotland, February is shaping up to be worth braving the cold for, as a nationwide Motorcycle Road Safety Roadshow is rolling back out across five Scottish locations.
Its organisers are aiming to put practical, rider-focused safety advice directly into the hands of those who need it most.
Running from Monday 16 to Friday 20 February, the free-to-attend roadshow will visit Ayr, Whitburn (Bathgate), Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Inverness. The ambition is to reduce the number of motorcyclists being killed or seriously injured on Scotland’s roads.
As ever, that urgency is backed up by some crash data and statistics. Motorcycle fatalities in Scotland have been trending the wrong way, rising from 27 in 2023 to 30 in 2024, and 33 in 2025. Against that backdrop, organisers are hoping to attract more than 1,000 riders across the week, matching the turnout of a similar event held earlier this year.

The format is refreshingly grounded, and instead of weirdy beardies just telling riders to slow down, the roadshow brings together key voices from across the motorcycling and road safety landscape. Speakers include Police Scotland Road Policing, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service’s Biker Down team, IAM RoadSmart, engineering consultancy Sweco, Motorcycle Law Scotland and Shoei UK. The focus is on real-world risk, decision-making and what actually happens when things go wrong.
Support is coming from Scottish motorcycle dealers, including Shirlaws, Two Wheels, Motorrad Central, Mitchells and Mr Moto, alongside training providers Cameron Motorcycles and Fastrak Motorcycle Training, and protective clothing specialists Roadskin.
Each evening also features a prize draw, with more than £4,000 worth of kit and training up for grabs, from advanced rider courses to navigation tech and riding gear. All funds raised go to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).
Tickets are free, with donations encouraged, and the event also supports the #TakeAnotherLook campaign.
