James Ellison undergoes surgery...

... three days before the race

Bogdanka PTR rider, James Ellison, will undergo surgery on his recently injured left knee today (Wed) to allow him to race this Sunday.

The Kendalian spent a long time at the top of the time sheets during the first SS600 test session at Phillip Island but crashed in the dying moments of the session. (Fabien Foret was quickest at the test)

"It started good this morning, P1 while it was wet then running third in the dry," he said. "But with three minutes to go I got caught out by the wind and ended up firing myself over the handlebars."

"I did some damage to my knee and spent the rest of the day driving around having x-rays, ultrasounds and an MRI. Hopefully I will have some better news tomorrow."

However, a return to the track on Tuesday proved fruitless and the decision to seek further medical help was taken.
