FOLLOWING a practice start at the close of FP3 yesterday Jorge Lorenzo had a huge highside at turn five, luckily uninjured the reigning champion was able to take pole position three hours later.

The crash at Laguna Seca left Lorenzo puzzled saying he needed to watch the video footage to understand why, as he was unsure why he had crashed because he was 'not going that fast'. The result of the crash was from the disengaging of the traction control so the launch control could take over for the practice start.

To re-engage the traction control, the rider has to downshift so that he electronic system can automatically fire up again, as the Spaniard remained in gear he found himself without the aid of the traction control and cracking the throttle wide open gave way for the huge highside.

The video is likely to be taken down by the MotoGP overlords, when that moment comes along there is a shot of Lorenzo flying below.
