SUZUKI has announced two new watches, paying tribute to the GSX-R and Katana models. They are made by Kentex and feature special graphics, colour schemes and bezels.
The timepieces will be available through the Suzuki S-Mall on the global Suzuki website. It’s a kind of typically Japanese online shop, with one page selling Ecstar engine oil, and the next flogging wine and canned food ‘lucky bags’.
The watches though are stand-out items, and take the two iconic models from Suzuki as their inspiration. The basis of the watch is the Kentex Moto-R, a stainless steel-cased timepiece, with sapphire crystal glass, and a Japanese chronograph quartz movement. The GSX-R edition is finished in the iconic blue of the famous sports bikes and features an etched brake disc pattern around the bezel. The Katana edition is mechanically and technologically the same, although the Katana branding can be seen on the face, and the black bezel gains a tachymeter instead of the brake disc design.
The two watches are available to order now on the official website, although it’s not as simple as clicking, selecting the payment method and checking out. Just 300 of each watch are being produced, and Suzuki is flogging the £300 item by way of an online lottery that sadly looks to have closed. The lucky winners should be receiving their confirmation emails any day now. And before you think about waiting for one to come up on eBay, think again. Suzuki’s T&Cs rule out selling the watches after buying. The website even claims they will track down those that do through the serial number and ‘contact them directly’!
Ohh-err-missus!
