Shoei Marc Marquez collection goes old school with new Glamster

The retro-styled Shoei Glamster has been the latest model from the Japanese company to become part of its Marc Marquez collection

Shoei MM93 Glamster

Shoei’s Marc Marquez collection has grown once more for 2024, with the introduction of the Glamster to the range.

The Shoei Glamster itself is nothing new on its own, having been around in Europe since the turn of the decade, with its rounded shell shape, large visor, and retro Shoei logo making clear this is Shoei’s homage to the earliest days of full-face motorcycle helmet.

Marc Marquez was still 20 years from being born in the early 1970s, but his appreciation for retro styling has been apparent throughout his career, mostly thanks to the one-off helmets he has run in the past at the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas, often inspired by his love for flat track.

The new Marc Marquez edition of the Shoei Glamster is another example of this retro appreciation. The helmet comes in a darkened colour, with black and grey dominating the shell, contrasting against red stripes and accents that mark this out as part of Shoei’s MM93 collection. Marquez’s  famous number 93 is also present in a retro-style font over a light-grey background on the left and right sides of the helmet.

The MM93 edition of the Glamster does not change the specifications of the helmet, which comes with ECE 22.06 certification and uses both Shoei Drylens and Pinlock Evo Lens on its visor for anti-fog, and minimalist air intakes on the chin area and at the front of the top part of the shell. It also features a removable interior lining for ease of washing, and an EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System) that makes it easier for third parties to remove the helmet in an emergency scenario.

Currently, the Shoei Glamster MM93 has only been announced in Japan, where it has a price of ¥56,000, or around £310, excluding tax, and is available in sizes S-XXL. There is currently no information regarding the helmet’s arrival in markets outside Japan, including Europe.
