Sena launches Apex Bluetooth intercoms with replaceable batteries
Sena has launched its new Apex and Apex Plus Bluetooth intercoms, with replaceable batteries, up to 40 hours of combined talk time and a range of 1.6km.

Sena has launched its first Bluetooth motorcycle intercoms with replaceable batteries, with the new Apex and Apex Plus designed to tackle one of the more annoying limitations of helmet communication systems.
Both units come with two 620mAh batteries and a dual charger, with each battery providing up to 20 hours of talk time.
That means up to 40 hours is available between the two batteries, while Sena says both can be charged in around two hours. A 20-minute fast charge provides up to two hours of communication per battery.
The Apex is designed for two-person communication, while the Apex Plus increases that to four users. Both have an intercom range of up to 1.6km, along with Bluetooth 6.0, second-generation 40mm HD speakers, FM radio and AI-based microphone noise cancellation.

Sena has also fitted a Quick Pair button, magnetic mounting and Qi wireless charging, while both systems are IPX7 water resistant.
There is also support for Sena's Wave Intercom, which uses a mobile network connection to provide effectively unlimited range and cross-brand compatibility.
The replaceable battery setup is arguably the most interesting part of the package. Rather than relying on an internal battery that eventually loses capacity and leaves the whole unit needing replacement or repair, Apex owners can carry a charged spare and swap it over when required.
The Apex is priced at £199 for a single pack or £379 for a twin pack, while the Apex Plus costs £239 for a single pack and £449 for two units. Both come with two batteries and a dual charger.
There is also wireless over-the-air updating, automatic power on/off, customisable faceplates and compatibility with Sena's Motorcycle and Wave apps.
