Acumen launch CAT6 immobiliser

Company launch immobilisation system aimed at keyless off-road market

Acumen's new CAT6 immobiliser

ACUMEN has extended its supply-and-fit service to include its CAT6 immobiliser, which offers a secure solution for motorcycles that do not have a battery fitted or do not require a key for starting (or both). This means customers pay a flat fee for the immobiliser and fitting by an auto-electrician, who will visit them at a location of their choice.

The CAT6 is based on the British company's insurance approved devices and will immobilise the machine automatically, 30 seconds after switching off the engine. Unlike conventional immobilisers, the CAT6 requires no vehicle battery and is thus suitable for both AC and DC ignition systems. The CAT6 does not rely on the machine’s battery because it has an internal power source that is recharged while the engine is running. This makes the CAT6 a security solution for machines that may be started without a key, like off road bikes, as well as motorcycles with no battery, such as classic machines. Its zero battery drain makes the CAT6 ideal for smaller capacity bikes and scooters fitted with small batteries and many enduro bikes too.

Its microprocessor-controlled system is operated via stainless steel touch keys. It has a two-colour LED status display so owners can see what's happening, contained in a compact box (only 55mm x 55mm x 30mm) that can easily be concealed beneath the seat or body panels and is 100% waterproof.

Customers can choose between a full supply-and fit service, priced at £189.99, or opt for the DIY fit, paying just £99.99.
