New Ducati Desmo250 MX to land in the UK at £8,995
Ducati has launched the all-new Desmo250 MX, which takes after the bigger Desmo450 following its release one year ago.

Ducati has expanded its budding off-road range with the arrival of the new Desmo250 MX, which features a completely new engine.
The new single-cylinder power unit benefits from desmodromic valve timing, and produces 43 bhp at 12,500rpm, although the new machine can reach up to 15,000rpm. The Desmo250 MX arrives one year after Ducati officially launched its first motocross bike of the modern era, and the first in its class to feature desmodromic technology; that being the Desmo450 MX.
More recently, Ducati welcomed the all-new Desmo450 EDS model to its off-road line-up, which also serves as the company’s first modern enduro machine.

The engine powering the Desmo250 MX is inspired by the company’s Panigale V4 R, which is Ducati’s flagship race bike in WorldSBK and British Superbike.
The engine is also powered by a 44mm Mikuni throttle body, while the exhaust is completely new, and is designed to maximize performance and rideability. Completing the setup is a five-speed gearbox developed specifically for the Desmo250 MX, which has been equipped with a quickshifter in upshift, and a hydraulically operated Brembo clutch and a disc spring.

Suspension aboard the new Desmo250 is handled by a 49mm fully adjustable Showa front fork, and a fully adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. The bike also makes use of spoked wheels, and rides on Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres.
The Desmo250 MX shares its braking setup with the bigger 450 model, meaning Brembo calipers are paired with Galfer discs.
The Desmo250 model benefits from two engine maps, while also being equipped with a superior electronics package, which is derived directly from the one developed for the Desmo450 MX.

Maintenance of the Desmo250 MX involves two types of service, known as “Mid” and “Full”. The former includes checking the valve clearance which is carried out after 45 hours, as well as replacing the piston, which could be required at intervals between 45 to 60 hours.
The Full Service involves a complete engine overhaul, which is normally carried out between 90 and 120 hours.
The new bike will arrive in selected European dealerships in July, before landing in North America in August. Deliveries will then be made to the rest of the world, according to Ducati. The Desmo250 MX will land in the UK with a price of £8,995.
