Zontes 310 ADV reaches production

Baby adventure bike could be tempting at the right price

THE RANGE of Chinese-made Zontes 310cc singles has been under development for a while, with European deliveries of both the naked 310R and the faired 310X due to start before the end of this year. And production of the third machine in the range – the 310 ADV – is also rolling off production lines.

Reports in China say that the bike, which was first revealed at last autumn’s EICMA show, reached production on the first of September, with the firm taking orders on a first-come, first-served basis in its home market. It’s likely to be a while before the machine reaches Europe, but when it does it promises to be a genuinely tempting alternative to a BMW G310GS or Kawasaki Versys-X 300.

On paper, it’s a direct rival to both, with 35hp from its 300cc four stroke single. The BMW manages 34hp from a 313cc single, the Kawasaki hits 39hp with a 296cc twin. However, while both the German and Japanese bikes are well over £5,000, the Zontes is likely to be less than £4,500 when it reaches Europe. In China, it’s priced at just £3,000.
