Royal Enfield has announced two new special edition versions of its established 650cc twin-cylinder motorcycles.
At EICMA 2022, Royal Enfield unveiled its newest project, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. The bike is an expansion of the 650cc platform Royal Enfield has been developing in recent years, and of which it has already made use in the form of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
It is these two established bikes, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, which form the base for Royal Enfield’s latest special edition models.
Named “Thunder & Lightning”, Royal Enfield’s newest special edition project features two models, one based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 - ‘Lightning’ - and the other based on the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 - ‘Thunder’.
Royal Enfield Thunder Edition Continental GT 650
Beginning with the Thunder Edition Continental GT 650, Royal Enfield has provided a number of modifications to amplify the bike’s touring credentials.
The new features on the Thunder Edition Continental GT are:
- Removable soft panniers
- Dual touring seat
- Compact engine guards and sump guard
- Short tinted fly screen
- CNC machined bar-end mirrors and Oil filler cap
Royal Enfield Lightning Edition Interceptor 650
As for the Lightning Edition Interceptor 650, Enfield has introduced modifications which are intended to lean into the ‘scrambler’ style for which the original Interceptor became well-known.
Lightning Edition Interceptor 650 Features:
- Removable soft panniers
- Touring seat
- Compact engine guards
- Aluminium sump guard
- Tall fly screen
- Touring mirrors and CNC oil filler cap
Availability is limited on both the Lightning Edition Interceptor 650 and the Thunder Edition Continental GT 650.
