Kawasaki shows another new supercharged concept at Eicma

New SC-02 concept gives more insight into the possible direction of future models

KAWASAKI has waited until Eicma to reveal this new concept sketch of a bike called the SC-02 ‘Soul Charger’, which is based on its ‘unique supercharger technology.’

The new computer-drawn concept complements the existing SC-01 ‘Spirit Charger’ sketch, along with the balanced supercharged engine that Kawasaki displayed at the recent Tokyo Motor Show.

This latest development is an even stronger affirmation that Kawasaki is working on a new range of forced induction models using its existing knowledge and technology.

Visually, the SC-02 shares a few similarities with the SC-01, but looks more muscular, brutish and futuristic. Kawasaki hasn’t revealed any specific details about what capacity the SC-02 could be, but said in a press release:

Christened the SC-02 or “Soul Charger”, the un-faired “naked” concept illustration revealed a machine with visual clues pointing to a smaller capacity than the litre class Ninja H2 and H2R that it shares much of its technology with.

The president of Kawasaki motorcycle division, Kenji Tomida, has said that ‘the Soul Charger represented the possibility for Kawasaki to make forced induction technology scalable.’

Fingers crossed for two new supercharged Kawasakis becoming a reality then.
