MotoGP’s popularity is continuing to trend in the right direction, with the sport confirming some very impressive results in 2025.

MotoGP officials say 2025 has been a year that’s delivered ‘unprecedented growth’, with more than half of its fans and followers under the age of 35. This season marks the fifth consecutive year where that has been the case.

One of the areas where MotoGP has continued to grow its popularity is through the sprint race format, which has made race weekends more dynamic and appealing, especially to new viewers. Unlike F1 where only a handful of sprints are featured per season, sprint races in MotoGP take place at every round, and have been a main ingredient of the championship since 2023.

The sport’s global reach improved by 12 per cent compared to 2024, with a recorded fanbase of 632 million people. Over the course of its 22-round season, MotoGP welcomed a record-breaking 3.6 million attendees.

A total of nine attendance records were broken this year, with an all-time high of 311,797 spectators at Le Mans in May. Those numbers mean the 2025 French GP is the most attended race in MotoGP history.

TV audiences grew globally by an average of 9 per cent at each Grand Prix, while sprint races saw a viewership surge of 26 per cent compared to 2024. 2025 was also a good year for MotoGP’s digital presence, with its social media following surpassing the 60 million mark.

Engagement across its social media channels climbed a staggering 61 per cent, with fans consuming over 1 billion minutes of action on MotoGP’s official YouTube channel.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, Chief Executive Officer of MotoGP, said this about the record-breaking year:

"2025 was a landmark season for MotoGP – a clear reflection of the work we have done to open our sport to new audiences and build deeper affinity with our fans. From record-breaking attendance to digital engagement and incredible racing on the track, this year shows the strength and vibrancy of our sport today – demonstrating the power of MotoGP to captivate fans and our partners around the world."
