Michael Dunlop secured his 34th victory at the Isle of Man TT on Tuesday, 2 June, breaking more records in the process. But have you ever wondered how much a rider earns for winning a race at the TT?

Well, according to a report from the Belfast News Letter, the answer for winning a Supersport TT race is £14,250. That’s how much prize money Dunlop will take home for his victory on Tuesday, but he could double that later this week by winning the second Supersport TT race.

Of course, the weather will play a major role in determining how much action takes place over the next few days, as multiple races have already been postponed, some of which have been rescheduled more than once, since last Saturday.

Dunlop’s victory earned him double the amount of second place, which went the way of Honda Racing UK’s Dean Harrison, who collected a total of £7,130. Third place in Race 1 went the way of Peter Hickman, earning him a prize pot of £4,700.

The total prize money handed out was £40,490, which is split between the top ten riders. While the difference from first to second is significant at £7,120, the figures are much smaller further down the top ten.

Fourth place is rewarded with a prize total of £3,420, while tenth place, which on this occasion went the way of Mike Browne, is given £1,000. That’s £140 less than ninth place, for example.

As you would expect, prize money for winning a Supersport race is not as much as winning the Superbike TT. £23,750 was won by Harrison on Sunday when the Honda rider took victory in the Superbike TT, while Hickman was awarded £11,880 for second place, and Dunlop £7,840 for third place.

In last weekend’s Superbike TT race, a total prize pot of £72,940 was handed out across the top 15 finishes. The gap from first place to 15th is a large one, with Shaun Anderson taking home £830 for his P15 result compared with Harrison’s £23,750.
