KTM recalls several 2024 models

Some owners of 2024 KTM motorcycles are facing a recall due to potentially faulty fuel cap seal.

If you’re a KTM owner of a 2024 125, 250, 390, and 990 Duke, then you could be faced with a recall of your motorcycle to repair the fuel tank cap seal.

KTM says it has already issued the recall and that “affected motorcycles must be brought to the workshops of authorized KTM dealers for a preventive replacement”.

This is because the Austrian brand has confirmed that during quality tests it was deemed that some fuel tank cap seals did not meet the necessary quality standards it set.

According to KTM, “material deviations” and small cracks could develop in the seal, which could lead to the horrible scenario of fuel leaking from the tank cap.

Affected customers are being informed by KTM, which also says you can check whether your 2024 model is currently affected by heading to the service section on the official KTM website. KTM will carry out the repairs free of charge at authorised dealers.

Husqvarna owners facing the same issue

KTM-owned Husqvarna has also issued a recall over the same problem, which again is affecting multiple models. The motorcycles faced with the issue include the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 125, 250, and 401 models.

According to a press release from Husqvarna, “customers who own one of the listed models will be personally notified by letter and are asked to contact an authorised Husqvarna Mobility dealership to schedule a complimentary replacement.”

The fuel tank cap seal issue does not affect 2025-on models or bikes made prior to 2024.
