KTM is close to major MotoGP investment

KTM has revealed that major investment could be coming to its MotoGP project before Christmas.

If you’ve been following the rollercoaster ride KTM has been on for the last year or so, you will most likely have seen rumours about its MotoGP project potentially being scrapped in a bid to raise funds.

But the Austrian manufacturer has shown no willingness to give up on its participation in MotoGP, even when financial matters were at their very worst.

Rumours just last month pointed towards CFMoto potentially being the brand that could take KTM’s place in MotoGP. However, if this new investment deal, which seems to be close, is agreed, then that should go a long way to brushing off all speculation about its MotoGP future.

The news of major investment potentially coming through the door, comes less than two weeks after Bajaj acquired KTM. That deal alone certainly suggests KTM’s future is on the up, as would any help to its MotoGP project.

When discussing the potential investment KTM could receive, CEO Gottfried Neumeister told German publication Speedweek that the brand has received "enormous interest” in its MotoGP project.

He also made it clear that KTM does not want to give up control of its MotoGP project.  

“It is no news that there is enormous interest from investors to enter the MotoGP project,” said Neumeister. “A partner who can cover 30 per cent of the running costs, for example, is very welcome. But I also say very clearly: We will not give up control of the team at any time.

“I assume that we could come to a signature before Christmas. The key thing was to understand the interest and to be able to start with a solid back-up for 2026.”

Bajaj taking over the company, and this new potential MotoGP investment are encouraging signs for KTM, which restarted its motorcycle production for the second time during the summer.
