The Road to MotoGP has been bolstered by the addition of a brand-new Academy concept, which aims to give young riders better exposure within the sport.

The championship plans to create a global network of elite racing schools as part of the new MotoGP Academy.

This will involve regions which MotoGP calls “underserved”, where resources are perhaps not as great as others.

The new academies will give riders the opportunity to “grow and learn in environments designed to deliver the best possible experience, all guaranteed by the MotoGP Academy seal”, says a press release from MotoGP.

In addition, each academy will be responsible for promoting and serving as ambassadors for two-wheel racing, where they will become local hubs for MotoGP while playing a major role in showcasing the sport to more fans globally.

To earn a place in the MotoGP Academy network, a set of rigorous requirements across infrastructure, training methodology, technical execution, and brand visibility will need to be met.

MotoGP will then invest directly in every successful training provider, offering tailored toolkits, activation support and branding, and exclusive discounts on numerous MotoGP products.

When their place on the Road to MotoGP has been secured, each MotoGP Academy will wear the name of their country, region or continent, therefore applying the same method used in the FIM MotoMini World Series.

Meanwhile, larger nations and markets could have multiple MotoGP Academies, while smaller countries will have a single national Academy that serves as the focal hub for that country.

MotoGP also says that “key markets for the sport and those with even greater scope for growth will be a point of focus for the new MotoGP Academy program”.
