KTM agrees new deal with CEO Gottfried Neumeister

It’s a case of no change at the top, as KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister will continue in his role until at least 2028.

Pierer Mobility AG (soon to be renamed Bajaj Mobility AG), and KTM AG have confirmed that CEO Gottfried Neumeister has penned a new deal until the end of 2028.

The new contract for Neumeister comes at a time when KTM has seemingly overcome the worst of its financial crisis, after Bajaj completed its takeover of the Austrian manufacturer in November.

Neumerister took over as CEO of Pierer Mobility AG and KTM AG on January 23, 2025, where he solely replaced Stefan Pierer after previously serving as the co-CEO from September 1, 2024.

In his new role Neumeister had initially been signed through to the end of August 2026, but his new deal will now see him continue to take charge of KTM until December 31, 2028.

Neumeister has played a key role in helping KTM navigate the muddy waters it started to face in late 2024. The company went into self-administration, released hundreds of employees, and paused motorcycle production not once, but twice.

KTM also cleared another major hurdle when its plan to restructure the business was accepted by creditors. The total bill was said to be 548 million euros at the time.

While it remains to be seen what 2026 looks like for the Austrian brand, we do know that some models that were earmarked for a 2025 release have now become 2026 models.

Speaking about his new contract with KTM as the company’s CEO, Neumeister said:

“I greatly appreciate the trust placed in me. Together with my new colleagues on the Executive Board, I would like to put KTM back on a clear growth path and thus strengthen the trust of our partners, customers, dealers and suppliers in the long term:

“The task now is to successfully implement our strategy of simplifying processes and focusing on the motorcycle market. In order to be able to dedicate myself fully to this task and to the restructuring of the KTM Group, I have agreed with the new majority owner that I will step down from all other functions outside the Bajaj Group in the near future.”
