UK MOTORCYCLE sales continue to climb, with new registrations up 17% in January 2016 compared to the same month last year.

It’s the latest in a long succession of figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association showing big growth in the UK bike market.

The biggest growth is in the sport-touring class, up 30.8%. Next is scooters above 50cc, up 27.2%. They’re closely followed by ‘custom’ bikes, up 26.7%, and ‘adventure sport’ bikes, up 21.9%.

Meanwhile sales of mopeds including scooters have dropped by 8%.
